Conductor, Organist, Pianist, Piano Technician
Internationally acclaimed Conductor and Organist, Adam Scott Graham, serves as Director of Music at Saint Luke Lutheran of Silver Spring, Maryland. Mr. Graham joined Saint Luke Church on January 1st of this year after serving as Interim Director of Music at St Peter’s Pro Cathedral in Salisbury, MD, six years as Artist-in-Residence at Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church and twenty years as Artist-in-Residence at Takoma Park Seventh-day Adventist, both of Takoma Park, MD.
Having served in various roles for the American Guild of Organists, Mr. Graham is the incoming Dean of the Potomac Chapter. He has also served as Chairman for Music in Worship on the Repertoire & Standards Committee of the American Choral Director’s Association. His passion for sacred music, the spoken word, and furthering the life of church music is evident in his many arrangements, original works, and transcriptions.
Notably, he had the honor of playing for the Presidential Inauguration for the Republic of Liberia, Her Excellency Dr. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, President, was a Conductor and Accompanist of the University of Liberia Alumni Chorus which held concerts internationally both to raise funds to build a school of music onto the University in Monrovia, Liberia, and also sent much needed medical supplies back to Monrovia during the Ebola pandemic. For years he served as the Conductor for Jubilate; a non-profit choir in Annapolis, Maryland, that performed anywhere up to thirty concerts per year. He has performed numerous concerts as Organist & Pianist including recently for the Potomac Maryland and Roanoke Virginia Chapters of the American Guild of Organists.
As a Conductor he has been regarded as one of the “Best performances of Handel’s Messiah in Washington D.C.” - DC Performing Arts Examiner. Graham has also prepared choirs for performances of GF Handel’s “Messiah” at the John F Kennedy Center for Performing Arts (Annual Messiah Sing-along). He is passionate about creating platforms featuring both LGBTQ+ and musicians of color, especially from around the DMV area. He is an avid supporter of the Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts (CAAPA), and has partnered with CAAPA many times over the years.
